I LOVE Thanksgiving with the Eller's

For Thanksgiving we went to Boone, NC and spent the weekend with the Eller's. We enjoyed delicious food and lots of laughs. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Christmas day is my brother-in-law, Daniel's birthday. This year is an extra special birthday since it is a milestone year for him so the family decided to surprise him with a birthday trip to the Bahamas. We have been planning and preparing for this trip since Christmas last year and we were able to keep it a secret the entire time.

Here's how the surprise went down:
Thanksgiving morning, Joedy (father-in-law) and Peggy (mother-in-law) told the family they wanted to choose and cut their Christmas tree while everyone was together. Daniel was a little hesitant about it but the rest of us talked him into going. He decided that he and Ashley (sister-in-law) would choose and cut their tree as well. If you know the Eller's then you know that we like to document everything with pictures and/or video. Since we had the big surprise planned it worked out perfectly that we had multiple cameras and a video camera.
Joedy and Peggy previously picked out their tree, decorated it, then placed four gift boxes under the tree. We headed towards the tree and started singing "Happy Birthday" to Daniel and, boy, was he surprised! Each box had a clue to what his gift was. The first box had a piece of luggage in it so he knew he was going somewhere. The second box had beach items in it so he knew he was going to a tropical location. The third box had plane tickets and passports in it so he knew the whole family was going with him and we were going somewhere that we needed a passport. The fourth box had information on Treasure Cay, Bahamas and the house we are staying in so he knew exactly where he was going. It was a lot of fun surprising Daniel and I am so happy we can finally talk about our trip to the Bahamas!

 Daniel is surprised!

I LOVE Thanksgiving

I LOVE Thanksgiving. The time spent with family and friends, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, the delicious spread of food, the amazing desserts, and the laid back feel of the entire day.

Thanksgiving is the perfect time of year to think about how blessed we are. If you don't think you are blessed....you woke up today didn't you? We are blessed so much to have another day. I am thankful for so many things that I can't possibly put them all into one post. I won't have a Friday Five this week since I'll be out of town so I figured I would post five things that I am thankful for.

1. First and foremost, I am thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ. I thank Him everyday for dying on the cross for my sins and for my salvation at an early age. I am thankful for his unconditional and never failing LOVE. I know that all my blessings come from Him and I am forever grateful.

2. I am thankful for my husband, Michael. He is my best friend and I can't imagine life without him. He is a man who puts God first in all areas of his life. He is a great example to everyone around him. I am thankful of how hard he works to make sure our life together is the best it can be. He is funny, kind, generous, LOVING, and I could go on and on. I LOVE everything about him and every moment that we spend together.

3. I am thankful for my family (Judy's and Eller's). God placed me in an amazing family. My parents raised my brother and me in a Christan home filled with LOVE. We are each others biggest fans. God blessed me with wonderful in-laws. We all get along and LOVE each other dearly. I am thankful to have the most handsome nephews in the world!

4. I am thankful that my parents live close enough that we will be able to spend the holiday's with them. We celebrated Thanksgiving early with my mom and dad and had the best time together. This Christmas will be the first in 3 years that I will be with my parents, brother & sister-in-law and I am so excited. It will be so fun bringing back the Christmas traditions that we had growing up.
Sorry Dad, I had to! haha.

5. I am thankful for my friends. New and old...my friends are the best. No matter how often we talk or see each other they all know how special they are to me. As we grow up and begin our adult lives things get busy and time together gets short. I am thankful for friends who understand that just because we haven't talked in a while doesn't mean they aren't on my mind.

What are you thankful for? Have a great Thanksgiving friends!

I LOVE Urban Nirvana Hair

When it comes to my hair I am not one to experiment. If I think that I want to change my hairstyle in any way it will take me months to finally make a decision. I will think about it all the time, talk about it all the time, and will create unneeded stress. Why am I like this? I'm sure it's because after I graduated high school I decided that the "college me" would look better with short hair. WRONG. I chopped my hair off and it looked awful (to say the least). Hair takes a really long time to grow out. I even used horse shampoo because it was supposed to make your hair grow faster. My hair finally got to the "in between stage" and I decided I would add some style by adding layers. BAD IDEA. I seriously had a mullet. My hair was worn half-up, half-down for months. A couple years later my hair finally grew out and I promised myself never to make a drastic change again...

...but then I met Cady. Cady is my hair dresser at Urban Nirvana Hair. I've gone to Urban Nirvana for their spa services and figured I would try out their hair salon. I was randomly placed with Cady and quickly fell in LOVE with the hair salon. It is wonderful. I can sit in Cady's chair, tell her my thoughts/feelings on my hair, and she works wonders. She creates the hairstyle I had in my mind even when I don't describe it well. She is also really easy to talk to which makes the appointment go by fast. Since meeting her I've had layers, side swept bangs, and even highlights. Yes, highlights were a drastic change for me, but I LOVED them!

If you live in Charleston and are looking for a great hairstylist, go to Cady at Urban Nirvana Hair. You won't be disappointed!

I LOVE the Friday Five

First, I apologize for my lack of posting this week. It has been a busy week and time ran away from me. I am so glad it is Friday and am ready for the weekend!

Here are your Friday Five:

1. I LOVE the Twilight Saga. I'm not a crazy obsessed fan, although, I do LOVE the movies. Breaking Dawn, part 1 came out today and I am really excited to see it. I have to admit that I am surprised that I LOVE these movies because typically I am not into anything that involves vampires. So, if you think you won't like the movies I recommend you watching the first one to see if you change your mind. I'll bet that you watch the first one, LOVE it, then go on to watch the rest.

2. I LOVE long-sleeved short dresses. When fall and winter come around most people (myself included) start to think jeans, boots, sweaters, and scarves. We can't forget about the stylish long-sleeved short dresses. I have seen a lot more of them this year than I have in years past. Here are some of my favorites:
Aidan Mattox Sequined Mesh Sheath Dress

BCBGMAXAZRIA Salina Lace Corset Dress

3. I LOVE boot socks. Boot socks are socks you wear under tall boots. Usually, the top of the sock sticks out of the top of the boots. It adds a little extra flare. Yes, I know I wrote about cozy socks last week and I am now coming to the realization that I LOVE socks more than the average person. With that being said, I LOVE these boot socks:

4. I LOVE watching people get scared. Yes, I know this is a cruel thing to LOVE but I will laugh so hard that I start crying. If I witness someone getting scared it is something that I will laugh about for hours. Please note that I hate being scared...ironic isn't it? So, check out the video below (from America's funniest home videos) to join in on this LOVE of mine.

5. I LOVE this picture. I never want to make a second trip. Can you relate?
This is me every time

I LOVE the Friday Five

Happy 11-11-11! That's not something I'll ever say again - pretty cool. I wonder how many couples are getting married today even though it is a Friday? I digress, anyway, hope y'all had a great week!

Here are your Friday Five:

1. I LOVE Veterans Day. I want to send a huge THANK YOU out to everyone who has or currently is serving in the military. I have lots of family and a few friends who have/are serving and I have the utmost respect for them. Happy Veterans Day!

2. I LOVE UNC basketball. Tonight is the season opener and the tarheels play Michigan State at 7pm. This game is unique because it is the Carrier Classic which means they are playing on the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier in San Diego, California. Click here to learn more. Go Heels!

3. I LOVE Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice coffee. Need I say more? This is a limited edition coffee so if you haven't bought it yet, do it now, you won't be disappointed. Remember how I LOVE my Aerolatte Frother? Froth some milk then mix in your Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice coffee and add a little truvia and you have created your own, homemade, Pumpkin Spice Latte!
Fair Trade Pumpkin Spice K-Cup Coffee

4. I LOVE the CMA Awards. Did you watch them on Wednesday night? If so, you know that Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted the show and did an amazing job, once again. I think they are the best hosts of any award show. Maybe I think that because I LOVE Carrie Underwood. She is beautiful and has one of the best voices in country music. She is a believer and a great role model to girls of all ages. I was disappointed in her choice of dresses/outfits throughout the show, although, she wore them all with confidence. My favorite look of hers was the Tony Ward gown that she performed in. Stunning.

5. I LOVE crafts. There are so many fun things you can create just by getting a little crafty. I found this on pinterest, although, it originally came from Salvage Dior. This blog has some really cool craft ideas. This is a black rubber doormat that has been spray painted white. When it is hung on the wall it creates a shabby chic decorative piece. How cool (and easy)!

I LOVE Thanksgiving with the Judy's

This past weekend Michael and I celebrated Thanksgiving with my Mom and Dad since we won't be with them on Thanksgiving this year. Mom and Dad came to Charleston on Friday and we spent the weekend relaxing and enjoying every moment. Saturday, Mom and I spent the day cooking while Michael and Dad watched football. I took advantage of my Mom's teaching *finally* and I learned how to make some of my favorite Thanksgiving dishes. We enjoyed a delicious meal, great conversation, and quality time together. Britney was able to join us and I am so glad she finally got to spend time with my parents!

This was the first time I was able to make a successful apple pie. I couldn't have done it without my Mom talking me through each step, ha!

I LOVE the Friday Five

This has been a busy week and I am ready for the weekend!

Here are your Friday Five:

1. I LOVE that my parents are coming this weekend. I haven't seen my parents since May and I am so excited they are coming to visit us for the weekend. I am thankful for any amount of time that we get to spend together and I hope it doesn't go by too fast (although, I know it will).

2. I LOVE fair food. As you know, the Coastal Carolina Fair is in town until tomorrow. I have been to the fair twice (once to see Sunny Sweeney perform and once to see Corey Smith perform) so I have been able to eat many of the fair foods. Yes, it is probably the worst food for any person to eat but let-me-tell-you that it is delicious. I ate a Turkey Leg, a basket of fries (with everything you can think of piled on top), a funnel cake, and a bowl of ice cream. I LOVE. Yes, my body hated me the next day but it is one day out of the entire year to eat terrible fair food and I just can't pass it up, ha. I still haven't tried the burger with two Krispy Kreme doughnuts as the bun - that goes a little too far if you ask me. Here are some pictures of the fun times we had at the fair:

3. I LOVE cozy socks. Now that the weather is cooling down, we have turned our A/C off and opened the windows. This means we have our blankets out and our cozy socks on. I believe that if your hands or feet are cold then your entire body is cold. I LOVE staying warm by wearing a pair of cozy socks and curling up under a soft blanket. I LOVE to wear socks that have bright colors or that have a funky design. Here are some cozy socks that I LOVE:

Make + Model 'Folk' Nordic Slipper Socks

4. I LOVE getting emails from my friends. Some of my closest friends and I have an "email group" where we send emails to update each other on what is going on in our lives. We live in different places, have full-time jobs, are still in school, or have begun a family of our own. Just like most other people - we stay busy. Writing emails is a quick way to show we are thinking about each other and a way to update a group of people all at the same time. I LOVE my friends and I LOVE getting emails from them.

5. I LOVE this Lost Socks board. What a great idea! We always have socks that come out of the dryer without a match. Usually, the match is in another load of laundry. I always lay the lost sock on top of the dryer or on top of our chest of drawers. This board will have the sock waiting for its match without being in the way. Now all I need is a craft night so I can make it!

I LOVE John 10:10

My morning devotion was on John 10:10 and is a verse that I wanted to share with you all. I hope it encourages you in some way.

John 10:10 (NIV Version):
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Take from it what you will. For me, it was a reminder that Jesus came to this earth, died on a cross, and rose again - ALL FOR US. He is for us and not against us. He gave us life and wants us to live our lives to the full.

Are you living your life to the full as God has intended us to or are you going through the everyday motions and just "getting by"? Something to think about...

I LOVE the Aerolatte Frother

I LOVE coffee. I drink one mug of coffee every morning with my breakfast. I also LOVE speciality coffee drinks *cough...pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks...cough*. I figured I would be able to recreate our favorite speciality drinks at home with a frother. Boy, was I wrong. I looked up how to make speciality drinks and realized you needed an espresso maker for the majority of drinks. Ha, duuuuuuh! Anyway, I bought this frother from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and wanted to use it - somehow. When I was preparing coffee this past weekend I decided to heat up about an inch of milk then froth it. Who knew it would be so simple? I poured the froth over the top of our coffee and added a pinch of Truvia. It was delicious. It changed the way our ordinary coffee tasted. I LOVE the Aerolatte Steam Free Milk Frother.
