I LOVE the Spoleto Festival USA

The Spoleto Festival USA is a performing arts festival held in Charleston for a little over two weeks. Spoleto Festival USA explains exactly what they do below:
For 17 days and nights each spring, Spoleto Festival USA fills Charleston, South Carolina’s historic theaters, churches and outdoor spaces with performances by renowned artists as well as emerging performers in opera, theater, dance, and chamber, symphonic, choral and jazz music. Now approaching its 36th season, Spoleto Festival USA is internationally recognized as America’s premier performing arts festival.
Tonight, some of my girlfriends and I are going to a concert by Joy Kills Sorrow, a bluegrass band from Boston. Yep, that is not a typo. They are a bluegrass band from Boston. Seriously?? I didn't know that bluegrass was a popular genre for people who are from Boston. Even though I've never heard of them before and have no idea what Boston bluegrass sounds like, I LOVE live music so it is sure to be a good time. If you are in Charleston, come out to The Cistern at 9pm to support Spoleto and Joy Kills Sorrow!

No worries - I'll be sure to give my review in tomorrow's Friday Five!

Britney, Stephanie, Susannah, Jennifer & Helen - I'm excited for our girls night out!! See you tonight :)

Ashley is a hardworking, strong, kind woman who is a lot of fun. She is the perfect match for my brother and I am blessed to call her my sister-in-law. I don't get to see her as much as I would like to but I hope that she knows how much she is LOVED and I hope she feels extra special today. Happy Birthday!

I LOVE the Friday Five

The week has come and gone and it is finally Friday!

First off, a huge thank you to all that have served or are serving in the military. Also, a huge thank you to the families of those who lost their lives serving our country. Let's not forget the true meaning of this holiday weekend. With that being said - Happy Memorial day weekend, friends :)

Here is a list of 5 things to make your Memorial Day a fun one:

1. Friends. If you are surrounded by your friends, it won't matter where you are or what you are doing, you are sure to have a great time. Laugh out loud (a lot), make the best of where you are, and enjoy the friends around you.

2. Bathing suit. Whether you are going to the beach, the pool, running through some sprinklers, or sitting in your yard; a bathing suit is necessary! A lot of people consider Memorial Day weekend the start of summer which means there will be lots of sunshine and hopefully some type of water. Sunshine + water = the need for a great bathing suit (and a fabulous tan). Here are some cute bathing suit options:

L Space Fringe Bikini
L Space Fringe Bikini - Urban Outfitters

Robin Piccone 'Penelope' Crochet Overlay One Piece Swimsuit

or if you are feeling extra festive:
Women's Flag Print Bikini Top & Bottom - Old Navy

3. Cook out attire. I am assuming that most people will uncover a grill and cook up some delicious food sometime over the weekend. Personally, grilling out is one of my favorite summertime activities. When it comes to cook out attire - you want it to be comfortable and casual. Here are a few cute cook out clothing options:

Laced Lineage Top Season Staple Shorts

Charlie Jade 'Rachel' Printed Silk Romper

4. Good food. If you are going to wear a cute outfit like the ones above, you must have good food to go along with it. Here are some fun Memorial Day foods to try this weekend:

5. Fun Music. Be sure to load your ipod with your favorite songs, bring out your old mix Cd's, and turn up the volume this weekend. There's nothing better than fun music as the background to your Memorial Day weekend. Don't be afraid to sing out loud and dance along as you let loose this weekend! Here are some fun song suggestions to add to your playlist:
  • "Drive By" by Train

  • "Stronger (What doesn't kill you)" by Kelly Clarkson

  • "Springsteen" by Eric Church

Have a fun and safe holiday weekend!!

Happy early Birthday, Ryan! I hate we can't be there to help you celebrate but I hope you have a fabulous weekend and hopefully we'll be able to celebrate soon!

I LOVE birthdays

Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday via phone, text, facebook, twitter, or in person. It was a great day and I truly felt special! I am not a fan of the number 27 (ha!) but age 27 is certainly off to a great start!

I woke up to a birthday balloon & my favorite doughnuts

My boss bought me this plant for my birthday.

I LOVED coming home to this bag!

Michael bought me these sandals that I have been wanting.

Clutch & Bracelets from my brother & sister-in-law.

Birthday cards!

My new purse! Thank you, Michael!

Dinner at Outback - a birthday tradition since I was young.

Nate LOVING Outback - ha!

 Britney & me at dinner.

The Wallaby Darned - another birthday tradition (since I turned 21).

LOVING my bracelet from my parents.

We finished off the night with a coffee, chocolate, and caramel ice cream cake!

Again, thank you all for your kind birthday wishes. Here's to another year!

I LOVE the Friday Five

This week has been rainy & dreary...I hope the weekend brings some sunshine!

Here are your Friday Five:

1. I LOVE my parents. My parents are always so thoughtful. I am turning 27 (eeeek!) on Monday and they made sure to send me a gift early so that I would have it on or before my birthday. I got a beautiful bracelet from Brighton and I LOVE it. Thank you Mom & Dad!

My Blackberry doesn't do the bracelet justice!

I LOVED the quote that was on the box, "At Brighton, we say "just wear it" - after all, exercising your great taste is a lot more fun than working out!"

2. I LOVE Chocolate Quaker Rice Cakes. Remember eating rice cakes when we were younger? I do and I remember how much I LOVED them. Yesterday, I went to the grocery store and came across Chocolate Quaker Rice Cakes and I fell in LOVE with them all over again. They are delicious and only 60 calories!

Quaker Rice Cakes - Chocolate Crunch

3. I LOVE finding out random, but cool, facts. For example, I LOVE to watch the show Suburgatory on Wednesday nights. I just found out that George is played by Jeremy Sisto who also played Elton on Clueless. Who knew?!?

sbg george biothumb + Jeremy Sisto at event of Angel Eyes = the same person!
I had no idea!

4. I LOVE Kaitlin & Kelley. Two of my friends (and college roommates) celebrated their birthday's this week so I couldn't let my blog be posted without giving them a shout out! Happy *late* birthday! Miss you both!

5. I LOVE floating motorized bumper cars. How cool are these?! Lots of fun days are sure to be had with these things. There is also a water gun built in. These will definitely allow our inner child to come out!

Have a great weekend, friends!

I LOVE that I can cry out to Jesus

We all have them - good days & bad days
-days when we are missing someone through laughs & days we are missing someone through tears
-days when we get up ready to conquer the world & days we only want to lay in bed
-days filled with excitement & days filled with fear

I woke up this morning hurting, more so than normal, for my friend Liz. I miss Joshua. This morning I kept thinking about all of the fun times the four of us shared. As I was praying on the way to work, "Cry out to Jesus" by Third Day came on the radio at the perfect moment. I am so thankful that on those not so good days I can cry out to Jesus and He will be there.

"Cry Out To Jesus"

To everyone who's lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus

For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith in love
They've done all they can to make it right again
Still it's not enough

For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you're not alone in your shame
And your suffering

When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus

To the widow who suffers from being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight

I LOVE Old Navy

Y'all know that I LOVE clothes, fashion, trends, accessories, jewelry, etc. One thing you may not know is that sometimes I have a hard time buying. I will window shop and look through racks of clothing all day long but it is hard for me to actually make a purchase.

Unless...I find a deal. I LOVE finding a deal on cute clothes. When I find really cute clothes that are inexpensive, I have no problem making a purchase. Now you know why 3/4 of my wardrobe is from Forever 21. I don't usually shop at Old Navy but recently they've had really cute clothes and it is starting to be a place that I look forward to going. I especially LOVE Old Navy's shorts. They aren't too short and they are also flattering. You better believe I bought a few pairs of them last weekend :)

Below are some of the cute style's Old Navy has to offer:

These shorts are only $19.94 but were on sale for $15.
Yep, these came home with me (along with the blue pair).

These were also on sale for $15 and made their way into my bag :)

Racerback + Floral = yes, please.

Jeans are one item of clothing that I will spend a lot of money on so my eyes lit up when I saw that these are only $34.50. I LOVE this color!

I LOVE how the lace dresses up this tank (esp at only $16)

This looks like it should be at Francesca's!

For the man in your life:

For only $9.94, this top made it home to add to Michael's wardrobe.

You can't beat a hipster tank like this one (esp at $12.94)!
This one came home as well.

These are the perfect fitting shorts for your man and only $20.
We bought these and are going back for the tan ones.

If your guy likes a plain bathing suit (which are very hard to find)- these are great and only $17.50.

Plaid always looks good on a man!

Don't you want to go shopping at Old Navy now?? I think I should get paid for all this advertising I just gave them :) Also, looking back over this post I confirmed that I do indeed have a LOVE for blue clothing.

What bargain stores do you LOVE to shop?

I LOVE the Friday Six (Mother's Day edition)

Friday's sure do make me happy. TGIF!

As you all hopefully know, Sunday is Mother's Day. I have 6 very important mom's in my life so I wanted to use today's blog to highlight each one of them (in no particular order).

1. I LOVE my Mom. All kidding aside, my mom is the best mom in the world. She is selfless, honest, hardworking, loyal, and lots of fun. As I get older, I see myself becoming more and more like her and I couldn't be more proud. Thank you (and Dad) for providing a safe, LOVING, Christian home for David and I. God truly blessed me by making you my mom.

2. I LOVE my Mother-in-law. As I have said many times before, I was blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law. She treats me as if we were related by blood and we always have so much fun together. She is so sweet and caring. When she is around, no matter how long you have known her, you immediately feel LOVED.

3. I LOVE my Nana. The day I become a grandmother I will be called Nana because of my Nana. She makes me feel like the most special girl in the world. She is genuine and kind. She is soft spoken but her words hold great meaning. She is an inspiration to me and I am so proud to call her mine.

4. I LOVE my Grandma. My Grandma Judy is all about family and LOVES when her family is together. Her house is a place that the family can gather together and act like big kids. She is a beautiful, strong woman who raised 7 children and created a strong bond between them all. I LOVE the many laughs she and I have shared over the years.

5. I LOVE my Aunt Angie. My Aunt Angie is not only my aunt but also my friend. I LOVE and respect her dearly. She and my Uncle Stew allowed me to live with them for 7 months while I was trying to figure out where I wanted to settle down after college. She cared for me like she was my own mother and would do anything to make sure I was happy. She is selfless and would give up anything for her family. She is a great example of how a wife, mother, sister, and friend should be.

6. I LOVE Melissa. Melissa is my only sister-in-law (on both sides of my family) that is a mother. You know those mom's that you look at and think, "they have it all together and it's as if motherhood was created specifically for them", well, she is one of those mom's. She LOVES her children so much and being a mom comes naturally for her. She always has a smile on her face and never complains. There is no doubt that she LOVES her family.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all my family and friends who are blessed to be mother's. Even though I can't write to you all please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers this Mother's Day. I hope you all feel as special as you are!

LOVE, sje
