I LOVE Flashback Friday

It's Friday, I'm in LOVE!

Today, let's flashback to 1992:

Friday I'm in LOVE by The Cure

I heard this song on the radio this morning and knew it had to be my flashback. It was my pick-me-up this morning and hope it will be yours as well.

Happy Friday friends!

I LOVE the Emmys

I LOVE the Emmys for two reasons. 1) Fashion...duh! and 2) it's the start of premier week! I can not wait to finally see new episodes of my favorite television shows. Remember me talking about this last year?

Congrats to my favorite show, Modern Family, for sweeping the comedy category again at the Emmys.

If you haven't watched Modern Family yet...you need to. It comes on ABC tonight at 9pm. It is hilarious!

I was extremely impressed with Emmy fashion this year. There were so many beautiful dresses it was hard for me to narrow it down to my top three favorites but here it goes:

3) Tina Fey. I LOVED this dress. She wore a deep red Vivienne Westwood gown with an embellished neckline, worn with Fred Leighton jewelry, a Roger Vivier clutch and Jimmy Choo heels. My favorite part of this gown is the neckline (maybe because my wedding gown had the same shape) and I LOVED seeing her in something other than black.

2) Julie Bowen. I couldn't stop looking at how beautiful she looked. She wore an electric yellow strapless gown by Monique Lhuillier, Jimmy Choo heels, Bochic jewels and a Swarovski clutch. I LOVE the neon color and her hair style complemented this dress perfectly.

and for my #1 pick....

1) Leslie Mann. She rocked this dress and I fell in LOVE with it the moment I saw it. She wore Naeem Khan gown with contrasting turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewels. She looked glamorous and comfortable which, in my opinion, is fashion perfection when pulled off correctly.

Who topped your best dressed list at the Emmys? What TV show are you most looking forward to this fall?

I LOVE Prayer for a Friend

Prayer For A Friend by Casting Crowns

Lord, I lift my friend to You, I've done all that I know to do
I lift my friend to You
Complicated circumstances have clouded his view
Lord, I lift my friend up to You

I fear that I won't have the words that he needs to hear
I pray for Your wisdom, oh God, and a heart that's sincere
Lord, I lift my friend up to You

Lord, I lift my friend to You
My best friend in the world, I know he means much more to You
I want so much to help him, but this is something he has to do
And Lord, I lift my friend up to You

'cause there's a way that seems so right to him
But You know where that leads
He's becoming a puppet of the world, too blind to see the strings
Lord, I lift my friend up to You
My friend up to You

Lord, I lift my friend to You, I've done all that I know to do
I lift my friend to You

I LOVE Flashback Friday

Happy last day of summer y'all. Tomorrow it will officially be fall, although, living in Charleston it won't feel like fall until late October or November. I don't know about you but I am ready to pull out my boots and scarves.

Today's flashback is...

Talkboy!

After I saw Kevin's talkboy, I knew I had to get one. I LOVED that thing. Not only could you listen to music with it but you could record your voice and then distort it. I remember one time recording my dad snoring with my talkboy. Ha, the joys of being a kid.

Here is how Wikipedia describes the talkboy:
The Talkboy was originally conceived as a non working prop for the 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, used by Macaulay Culkin's character. In 1993 it was made into a retail version, brought on by a massive letter-writing campaign by young fans of the film. The product capitalized on the success of the film's VHS release. Sales were largely driven by this movie tie-in.
The device itself consisted of a handheld cassette recorder with an integrated grip handle for easy carrying, and an extendable microphone. The function controls were much like any other portable cassette recorder of the day, complete with play, stop, fast forward, rewind, pause, and record buttons. Additionally, and most distinctively, a switch which toggled between normal and slow speed settings for playback and recording was also included. This feature gave the user the ability to manipulate the speed, and in turn, pitch, of the recorded sound to act as a voice changer since the pitch difference wasn't dramatic enough to drag on at SLOW or be too fast to decipher on FAST like a person would see at half and double speed. The standard model had a slowdown speed of 76% and a faster speed of 130%.
Did you have a talkboy growing up? If so, did you LOVE it as much as I did?

I LOVE Rewined Candles

I LOVE candles. I LOVE local businesses. I LOVE wine. So, naturally I was drawn to Rewined Candles the moment I came across them.

Last year, Michael and I were walking around the farmer's market and came across the Rewined Candle booth. I instantly fell in LOVE. I bought the Riesling (which smells amazing) and gave it to my aunt for Christmas. We burned it during our family Christmas party and everyone talked about how wonderful it smelled. They are all natural soy wax candles that are made into recycled wine bottles.  There are eight flavors to choose from: Cabernet, Champagne, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. Each flavor is designed to reflect the flavors in that particular wine.

Normally, an 11oz Rewined Candle is $28 but there is a Living Social deal going on where you can buy this candle for $19!! You know I bought one and I highly recommend you buy one (or more) as well. No, I don't know the owner. No, I don't get any for free if I recommend this to other people. Yes, I want to pass on a great deal for a great product that I LOVE and I know you will too. They also make great, original gifts!

Click here to go to the Rewined website for more information.

Click here to buy the Living Social deal (you have 7 days remaining) or to read more about them.

Hope y'all are having a great 'hump' day!

I LOVE Flashback Friday

It's Friday! Finally...I repeat, finally! Is anyone else as happy that it's Friday as I am?!?

Today's flashback is...

The Secret World of Alex Mack!

I used to LOVE to watch this show on SNICK. I thought it was so cool that Alex could morph herself into a liquid-like substance and travel through pipes and never be seen. I had no idea that Jessica Alba made her TV Debut on this show. The Secret World of Alex Mack jump starting career's before our young eyes! Below is how Wikipedia describes the plot of the show:
Alex Mack is an ordinary teenage girl, living with her parents and older sister in the corporate town of Paradise Valley. After her first day of junior high school, while walking home, Alex is nearly hit by a truck from a chemical plant, and during the incident, she is drenched with a top-secret chemical called GC-161. She soon discovers that the chemical gives her strange powers. These include telekinesis, the ability to transmit bolts of electricity through her fingers, and the capacity to morph into a liquid form. However, her powers prove to be unpredictable (such as when her skin starts glowing brightly while she's nervous). She confides only in her sister Annie and her best friend Ray, choosing to keep her powers a secret from everyone else, including her parents, for fear of what the chemical plant CEO, Danielle Atron, will do to her if she finds out.
Did you watch this show on SNICK? Did you LOVE it as much as I did?

Have a great weekend, friends!

I LOVE Fall Fashion

This morning I walked out the door and it was 70 degrees and sunny - beautiful! I instantly became more excited for the fall than I already was. I LOVE fall for multiple reasons; one of the reasons being fall fashion.

This year's fall trends are fun and can be applied to your wardrobe no matter what your personal style is. Below I have highlighted a few fall trends and have put together an outfit showcasing that particular trend. Thanks to polyvore I am able to style outfits just how I like them. I would wear these outfits, would you?

Fall Trend- Leather

Fall Trend - Colorblocking

Fall Trend - Military

Fall Trend - Jumpsuits

Fall Trend - Printed Denim

Fall Trend - Metallic

Which fall trend are you most excited to wear? I LOVE all these trends but my favorite is the military. I foresee a military style jacket and combat boots making their way into my wardrobe this fall!

Happy Shopping!

I LOVE Flashback Friday

TGIF! This has been the longest short week. I am so ready for a restful, do-nothing, weekend.

New York Fashion Week started yesterday and I can't wait to see what the designers have to show. I am most excited to see what celebrities are wearing and which designers they are most impressed with. What do you think of when you hear about NY Fashion Week? I instantly think of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Why? Who knows. Maybe because they attended school at NYU and live there full time. Maybe because of their sometimes marvelous and sometimes hideous fashion that is photographed on the streets of NY. It's probably because the media shows them constantly at whatever show they attend.

With that being said, let's flashback to when they were very young and thought they could sing.

Today's flashback is...

"I am the cute one" by Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

Thank goodness they got rid of that stylist!

Please tell me that y'all had their whole tape and listened to it every time your family took a road trip...'cause I certainly did. I knew these lyrics by heart and would sing them in the back of our station wagon. Even though they couldn't sing well, I still LOVED them.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!

I LOVE Tucker

Today is this guy's birthday:

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, TUCKER!!

Michael and I brought Tucker home on October 18th and fell in LOVE with him immediately. He is like a child to us and is LOVED dearly. His wild, high jumping, all-over-the-place personality has provided many laughs. To celebrate his birthday, we are going to take him on a long walk and give him doggy ice cream. He has no idea what a great night he is going to have! ha. Take a look at some many photos of him growing up:

Isn't he the most handsome chocolate lab that you have ever seen??

ps: Happy Birthday to my cousin, Alex! I hope you have a great day. I LOVE you!

I LOVED Labor Day Weeked

I LOVED Labor Day weekend and not just because it was a three day weekend. One of my best friends from Greensboro came to visit me in Charleston and we had a blast. We stayed up late talking and catching up and I took her to some of my favorite places in Charleston. After she left, I spent time  watching the entire marathon of The Hills resting and allowing myself to do nothing. It was wonderful!

Best friends since kindergarten.

Ashley found the Belkie bear she gave me in 6th grade.

If you know Ashley then you know there has to be popcorn when she is around.

Cheering on AppState as we received a beating from ECU.

Dinner at Coast (the bright light in the background). Also, this is the ally in the movie Dear John.

Lots of laughs were had at dinner.

Finishing off the night dancing at Trio.

I can't wait to do it all over again in October when our other long-time friend, Maggy, will be joining us.

It's a short work week - we can do it! Have a good one!
